An editorial portrait and storytelling series exploring the lives of women over 50 - what they are building, changing, carrying, questioning, and creating now.

We Want to See More Women Over 50
We are living, working, creating, leading, starting over, building legacies and figuring things out as we go.
And yet, even as women over 50 are increasingly recognized for our influence and economic power, we are still surrounded by messages telling us how not to look our age.
The Visibility Project pushes back against that.
We want to see women as they are - not perfected, erased or reduced to their age. We want their faces, their ideas, their work, their experiences and their stories to be part of what the world sees.
Because representation matters. Not only for us, but for the women coming behind us.
We don't stop being interesting because we get older.
In fact, we get more interesting with experience.
The Visual Narrative
Each woman will collaborate with photographer and project creator Kim Conant and Nancy Leeser, co-founder of Vibrant and Visible, to create a visual narrative that reflects something real about who she is and the life she is living now.
The portraits may be quiet, bold, joyful, unexpected, polished or imperfect. The goal is not to make every woman look the same. It's to create images that feel unmistakably like her.
The Story
Alongside the portraits, each woman will share part of her story through a short written or video profile and her response to one central question:
What does being visible mean to you now?
The stories may explore work, creativity, relationships, reinvention, leadership, identity, loss, pleasure, uncertainty, legacy - or something entirely different.
There is no required story.
The participant decides what she wants to share.
Project OverviewThe First Edition
The first edition of The Visibility Project will feature approximately six women over 50, photographed and interviewed during fall 2026.
Their portraits and stories will be presented as part of a Vibrant & Visible gathering in November and published as an ongoing online editorial series.
The Visibility Project will continue with a new group of women in spring 2027, building a growing visual archive of what life after 50 actually looks like.
Who we are Looking For
We want the first group to reflect the extraordinary range of women over 50.
Different ages. Different racial and cultural backgrounds. Different careers, life experiences, personalities and perspectives.
You don't need an extraordinary résumé, a dramatic reinvention or a perfectly packaged story. You only need to be willing to be seen.
Because representation isn't about showing one version of what it means to be a woman over 50.
It's about showing many.
We're currently selecting women for the first edition and would love to hear from women interested in participating now or in a future edition.
